P PT. New Crown Metal Works merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang usaha produksi antenna. Masalah yang dihadapi saat ini adalah belum diketahui besarnya kerugian yang diakibatkan oleh cacat yang ada. Pada kesempatan ini peneliti membatasi penelitian terhadap produk Antenna Audio. Penelitian dilakukan selama 3 bulan terhitung bulan April 2002 sampai dengan Juni 2002. Metoda penelitian dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara. Observasi dilakukan dengan cara pengamatan langsung dan pencatatan terhadap proses produksi Antenna Audio, terutama yang menyangkut biaya kualitas. Wawancara dilakukan kepada karyawan balk unsur pimpinan maupun staff. Setelah dilakukan pengumpulan data, dilakukan pengolahan data dengan menghitung biaya kualitas serta elemen-elemennya yaitu biaya pencegahan, biaya penilaian, biaya kegagalan internal dan biaya kegagalan external. Besarnya biaya kualitas untuk Antenna Audio selama 3 bulan adalah sebesar Rp. 640,523.72, dengan elemen biaya kualitas terbesar yaitu biaya kegagalan internal sebesar 64.89%. .Berdasarkan segmen optimum dan model kualitas, hasil yang diperoleh pada bulan April 2002 sampai dengan bulan Juni 2002 termasuk dalam daerah pengabaian yang berarti kualitas sudah mencapai titik optimum, tetapi masih dapat ditingkatkan lagi dengan mengurangi tingkat cacat tersebut. Jenis-jenis cacat pada proses produksi Antenna Audio ini adalah cacat baret, miring, ukuran, somplak, tidak rata, keling, bintik, bengkok, kasar, diameter tidak sama, dan diameter lubang tidak sesuai. Banyaknya cacat ini sangat mempengaruhi besarnya biaya kualitas. Berdasarkan analisa, jumlah komponen cacat yang terbesar adalah engsel atas dan biaya cacat terbesar dikeluarkan untuk komponen pipa pole. Sedangkan penyebab cacat produk tersebut adalah disebabkan karena kesalahan manusia, selain itu disebabkan oleh faktor metode, mesin, material dan lingkungan. Setelah melakukan analisa, maka disampaikan beberapa saran untuk maningkatkan kualitas Antenna Audio tersebut, diantaranya yaitu menerapkan disiplin dan tanggung jawab yang tinggi kepada semua pekerja, membuat laporan biaya kualitas secara periodik, mengadakan pelatihan kerja dan penggunaan mesin, serta mengolah kembali komponen-komponen cacat.
P PT. New Crown Metal Works is a company engaged in the antenna production business. The current problem is that the extent of losses caused by existing defects is unknown. On this occasion, the researcher limited the research to Antenna Audio products. The research was conducted for 3 months from April 2002 to June 2002. The research method was carried out by conducting observations and interviews. Observations were made by direct observation and recording of the Antenna Audio production process, especially those concerning quality costs. Interviews were conducted with employees, both management and staff. After data collection, data processing was carried out by calculating quality costs and their elements, namely prevention costs, assessment costs, internal failure costs and external failure costs. The amount of quality costs for Antenna Audio for 3 months was Rp. 640,523.72, with the largest quality cost element being internal failure costs at 64.89%. Based on the optimum segment and quality model, the results obtained from April 2002 to June 2002 were included in the neglect area, meaning that the quality had reached the optimum point, but could still be improved by reducing the level of defects. The types of defects in the production process of this Audio Antenna were scratches, slants, sizes, chips, unevenness, rivets, spots, bends, roughness, uneven diameters, and holes that did not match. The number of these defects greatly affected the amount of quality costs. Based on the analysis, the largest number of defective components was the top hinge and the largest defect costs were incurred for the pole pipe component. Meanwhile, the causes of product defects were due to human error, in addition to factors such as methods, machines, materials, and the environment. After conducting the analysis, several suggestions were made to improve the quality of the Audio Antenna, including implementing high discipline and responsibility to all workers, making periodic quality cost reports, conducting job training and machine use, and reprocessing defective components.
