T Tf field is one of the oil fields where production wells are operated using the electric submersible pump (esp) artificial lift system. as the wells mature, the performance of esp systems in several wells has declined, as indicated by discrepancies between actual production rates and theoretical production capacities, resulting in suboptimal pump efficiency. one of the wells experiencing this condition is ft-08 well, which exhibits volumetric efficiency below the optimum range due to a mismatch between the installed pump capacity and the well inflow capability.this study aims to evaluate the performance of the existing esp and to determine the most appropriate pump redesign to improve production rate and operational efficiency. the methodology includes inflow performance relationship (ipr) analysis using the composite method, total dynamic head (tdh) calculation, evaluation of head per stage, and analysis of volumetric and pump efficiencies based on pump performance curves. the evaluation was conducted on the existing ind1000 pump operating at a frequency of 60 hz. subsequently, pump redesign was performed by adjusting the pump capacity and number of stages according to the optimum flow rate obtained from the composite ipr analysis.the evaluation results indicate that ft-08 well has a maximum production rate (qmax) of 957.66 bfpd, while the actual production rate is 647.9 bfpd at a bottom-hole flowing pressure (pwf) of 245.92 psia. the existing pump operates outside its optimum operating range, with a volumetric efficiency of 52% and a pump efficiency of 48%. the redesign was carried out by replacing the existing pump with an ind750 pump operating at 60 hz and equipped with 80 stages. the redesign results show an increase in production rate to 766.12 bfpd, a reduction in pwf to 159.42 psia, and an improvement in pump efficiency to 59%. this study demonstrates that proper esp selection and redesign based on well inflow characteristics can significantly enhance production performance and operational efficiency.
