Abstract

G Gigi impaksi adalah gigi yang tidak dapat erupsi dengan baik seluruhnyaatau sebagian karena terhalang gigi tetangga, tulang atau jaringan lunakdi sekitarnya. Untuk menanggulangi keluhan-keluhan yang terjadi dikemudian hari, gigi impaksi tersebut harus dikeluarkan. Salah satukomplikasi yang dapat ditimbulkan dari pengeluaran gigi impaksi molartiga bawah adalah rusaknya nervus lingualis. Rusaknya nervus lingualis iniakan menyulitkan pasien baik dalam berbicara maupun dalampengecapan. Tindakan operator yang kurang hati-hati pada pengeluarangigi impaksi molar tiga bawah dapat menyebabkan rusaknya nervus ini.Selain itu adanya variasi dari bentuk gigi dan anomali letak dari nervuslingualis dapat juga memperbesar komplikasi-komplikasi yang mungkinterjadi. Operator harus didukung dengan alat-alat, persiapan danpenguasaan teknik yang baik agar komplikasi pengeluaran gigi impaksimolar tiga bawah terutama kerusakan nervus lingualis dapat dihindari.

I Impacted tooth is a tooth which is completely or partially unerupteddue to its position against another tooth, bone or soft tissue hence furthereruption is unlikely. To avoid possible complaints in the future, this impactedtooth must be removed. One of the complications that may occur from theremoval of impacted third molar is lingual nerve damage. This lingual nervedamage will trouble patients whenever they talk or try to taste something.Carelessness of the operator at the removal of impacted third molar maydamage this nerve. Apart from that, the variations of the tooth and theabnormal position of the lingual nerve may increase the possibility of thelingual nerve damage. Due to this fact, an operator should explain to a patientabout the complications that may occur before removing an impacted tooth.The operator should be supported by good equipment, good preparation andgood technique so that the complications from the removal of impacted thirdmolar especially the lingual nerve damage could be avoided.
