Gambaran pengetahuan, sikap, dan tindakan mahasiswa Fakultas Non Kesehatan Universitas Trisakti mengenai gingivitis dan pencegahannya
K Kesehatan mulut yang baik berhubungan dengan kesehatan secaraumum. Pencegahan penyakit periodontal berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan secarakeseluruhan. Gingivitis yang mempengaruhi 74% populasi masyarakat Indonesiamerupakan inflamasi pada gingiva tahap awal yang jika tidak ditangani bisamenjadi periodontitis. Kategori usia yang tertinggi dengan gingivitis di Indonesiayaitu 15-24 tahun dan pada mahasiswa non kesehatan tidak terpapar mengenaikesehatan gigi dan mulut sehari-harinya. Tujuan: Melihat gambaran pengetahuan,sikap, dan tindakan mahasiswa non kesehatan terhadap gingivitis danpencegahannya. Metode: Penelitian observasional deskriptif yang dilakukandengan pendekatan cross sectional (potong lintang). Pengambilan data dilakukanpada 112 mahasiswa Kampus A Universitas Trisakti dengan menggunakankuesioner berisi 29 pertanyaan pengetahuan, sikap, dan tindakan mengenaigingivitis dan pencegahannya. Hasil: Mayoritas mahasiswa sebesar 58.9%memiliki pengetahuan baik, diikuti 23.2% dengan pengetahuan cukup, dan 17.9%dengan pengetahuan kurang. Untuk sikap mayoritas sebesar 48.2% memiliki sikapbaik, 47.3% memiliki sikap cukup, dan 4.5% memiliki sikap kurang. Kemudian,mayoritas mahasiswa yaitu 47.3% memiliki tindakan cukup, 38.4% memilikitindakan baik, dan 14.3% memiliki tindakan kurang. Kesimpulan: Dalampenelitian ini, sebagian besar mahasiswa fakultas non kesehatan UniversitasTrisakti memiliki tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap baik namun tindakan cukup.
G Good oral health is related to general health. The prevention ofperiodontal disease has an impact on general health. 74% of Indonesians suffer fromgingivitis, an early stage of infection of the gingiva when left untreated, can developinto periodontitis. The highest age category with gingivitis in Indonesia is 15-24years and non medical students are not exposed to oral health on their daily life.Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, andpractice of non medical students regarding gingivitis and its prevention. Materialsand methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted by distributingquestionnaire consists of 29 question about knowledge, attitude, and practiceregarding gingivitis and its prevention to 112 non medical students from CampusA, Trisakti University. Results: The study showed that 58.9%, 23.2%, and 17.9%of undergraduates had good, average, and poor knowledge respectively. Similarly,the majority of students had good attitude with 48.2%, followed by average attitudewith 47.3% students and only 4.5% had poor attitude. However, the data depict that47.3% had average level of practice, followed by good and poor practice with38.4% and 14.3% respectively. Conclusion: In conclusion, majority of the nonmedical undergraduate students of Trisakti University had good knowledge andattitude while in terms of practice towards prevention of gingivitis were poor.
