D Drilling mud is an important component in drilling operations. Drilling mud is a chemical solution that has a role in withstanding reservoir pressure and circulating drill shale in the drilling process. The drilling mud used is KCl-Polymer mud. KCl-Polymer mud is known to prevent the development of reactive shale layers. Additives or chemicals used can be in the form of weighting agents or weighting additives such as barite and calcium carbonate. From these additives, it is necessary to know how barite and calcium carbonate affect the physical properties of drilling mud. This study will compare the effectiveness of barite and calcium carbonate on the physical properties of KCl-polymer mud at temperatures of 80°F, 200°F, 250°F. This research is experimental in nature where it will compare the effectiveness of barite and calcium carbonate on the physical properties of KCl-polymer mud that experiences temperature increases. The physical properties tested are density, viscosity, plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength, filtration loss, mud cake thickness, and mud pH. Testing the physical properties of drilling mud also uses API standards as the limit of mud eligibility for use in drilling operations. The equipment used included digital scales, mixer, hot roller, mud balance, marsh funnel, fann vg meter, fire filter press, ph stripe. Based on the research conducted, the increase in temperature affects the physical properties of drilling mud. In KCl-Polymer drilling mud plus barite, the value of density, viscosity, plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength decreased, the value of filtration loss and mud cake increased, and the pH value remained. While in KCl-Polymer drilling mud plus calcium carbonate, the value of density, viscosity, plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength decreased, and the value of filtration loss, mud cake, pH increased. The value of the results of the tests carried out is not entirely in accordance with the standard specifications, some are above the standard specifications and some are below the standard specifications.
