T This research examines the registration of integrated circuit layout designs (iclds) that have been commercially exploited under law number 32 of 2000. the issues addressed in this study are the registration of commercially exploited iclds and the legal status of icld owners when the application for registration is submitted after the expiration of the two-year time limit. this research employs a normative legal research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, using secondary data analyzed qualitatively and drawing conclusions through deductive reasoning. the results indicate that an icld that has been commercially exploited may still be registered, provided that the application is filed within two years from the date of its first commercial exploitation. if the application is submitted after this period, the owner of the icld is placed in a weaker legal position because exclusive rights over the icld arise only upon registration. such delay may be understood as resulting in the loss of the opportunity to obtain icld rights, although the legal consequences are not expressly stipulated by the law.
