L Latar belakang: β-trikalsium fosfat (β-tcp) merupakan material biokeramik yang bersifat biokompatibel, bioresorbable, osteokonduktif, serta memiliki struktur yang menyerupai jaringan keras gigi dan tulang, sehingga banyak dimanfaatkan dalam bidang kedokteran gigi sebagai granul maupun semen. proses fabrikasi semen β-tcp dapat dilakukan dengan mencampurkan serbuk β-tcp dengan larutan asam seperti natrium hidrogen sulfat (nahso₄) yang berfungsi memicu reaksi pengerasan melalui mekanisme disolusi–presipitasi. tujuan: menganalisis pengaruh variasi konsentrasi nahso₄ terhadap kekuatan tarik diametral (diametral tensile strength) semen β-tcp sebagai kandidat bahan pulp capping. metode: penelitian eksperimental laboratorium menggunakan enam kelompok sampel, yaitu β-tcp yang dicampur dengan larutan nahso₄ 0,5 m; 0,75 m; 1,0 m; dan 1,25 m, serta kontrol negatif (akuades) dan kontrol positif ca(oh)₂. pengukuran ph dilakukan terhadap larutan nahso4 sebelum pencampuran sedangkan uji dts dilakukan menggunakan universal testing machine. analisis statistik menggunakan uji shapiro–wilk, levene, kruskal–wallis, dan dunn–bonferroni. hasil: peningkatan konsentrasi nahso₄ menurunkan ph larutan dan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap nilai dts (p < 0,05). nilai dts tertinggi diperoleh pada konsentrasi 1,0 m, sedangkan konsentrasi 1,25 m menunjukkan penurunan akibat pelarutan β-tcp yang berlebihan. kesimpulan: semakin tinggi konsentrasi nahso₄, maka reaksi disolusi β-tcp semakin besar sehingga memengaruhi tingkat presipitasi kristalin. konsentrasi 1,0 m merupakan kondisi optimum untuk menghasilkan kekuatan tarik diametral terbaik pada semen β-tcp.

B Background: beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-tcp) is a bioceramic material known for its biocompatibility, bioresorbability, osteoconductivity, and structural similarity to hard tissues such as bone and dentin, making it widely utilized in dentistry in the form of granules and cements. the fabrication of β-tcp cement can be achieved by combining β-tcp powder with an acidic solution such as sodium hydrogen sulfate (nahso₄), which initiates the setting reaction through a dissolution–precipitation mechanism. objective: to analyze the effect of varying concentrations of nahso₄ on the diametral tensile strength (dts) of β-tcp cement as a potential pulp capping material. methods: this laboratory experimental study involved six groups consisting of β-tcp mixed with nahso₄ at concentrations of 0.5 m, 0.75 m, 1.0 m, and 1.25 m, as well as a negative control (aquadest) and a positive control ca(oh)₂. the ph of the nahso₄ solution was measured prior to mixing, and the diametral tensile strength (dts) test was conducted using a universal testing machine. data were analyzed using the shapiro–wilk test, levene’s test, kruskal–wallis test, and dunn–bonferroni post hoc analysis. results: increasing nahso₄ concentrations resulted in lower ph values and significantly affected the dts of β-tcp cement (p < 0.05). the highest dts was observed at a concentration of 1.0 m, whereas 1.25 m demonstrated a decrease due to excessive dissolution of β-tcp leading to reduced structural stability. conclusion: higher concentrations of nahso₄ increase the dissolution of β-tcp, influencing the extent of crystalline precipitation and thereby altering the mechanical properties of the cement. a concentration of 1.0 m is identified as the optimal condition for achieving the highest diametral tensile strength in β-tcp cement.
