L Latar belakang: prevalensi masalah gigi dan mulut di indonesia mencapai 57,7% didominasi oleh infeksi akibat bakteri, salah satunya enterococcus faecalis (e. faecalis) yang sering menyebabkan infeksi persisten paska perawatan saluran akar. upaya pengendalian bakteri ini memerlukan agen antibakteri yang efektif. kulit salak salacca zalacca diketahui mengandung senyawa fitokimia meliputi flavonoid, tanin, saponin dan alkaloid dengan potensi aktivitas antibakteri. tujuan: untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis efek antibakteri ekstrak kulit salacca zalacca (s. zalacca) terhadap e. faecalis, yang dikaji pada daya hambat minimum dan daya bunuh minimum. metode: penelitian eksperimental laboratoris secara in vitro ini menggunakan metode mikrodilusi dalam 96-well plate dilanjutkan dengan metode total plate count (tpc) manual pada media brain heart infusion agar (bhi-a). hasil: re,rata koloni bakte,ri e,. fae,calis me,nghasilkan ekstrak kulit s. zalacca dengan konsentrasi 10% memiliki 0,5 x 105 cfu,/ml dan konsentrasi 25% tidak ada pertumbuhan koloni. kesimpulan: berdasarkan rangkaian penelitian dan analisis yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat efek antibakteri ekstrak kulit salak (salacca zalacca) terhadap enterococcus faecalis. pada penelitian ini didapatkan konsentrasi ekstrak kulit salak (salacca zalacca) yang menunjukkan dhm adalah konsentrasi 10% serta yang menunjukkan dbm adalah konsentrasi 25%.
B Background: the prevalence of dental and oral health problems in indonesia reaches 57.7%, predominantly caused by bacterial infections, one of which is enterococcus faecalis (e. faecalis), often responsible for persistent infections following root canal treatment. controlling this bacterium requires an effective antibacterial agent. the peel of snake fruit (salacca zalacca) is known to contain phytochemical compounds, including flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids which have potential antibacterial activity. objective: this study aims to determine and analyze the antibacterial effect of salacca zalacca (s. zalacca) peel extract against e. faecalis as assessed through minimum inhibitory concentration (mic) and minimum bactericidal concentration (mbc). methods: this in vitro laboratory experimental study used the microdilution method in a 96-well plate, followed by total plate count (tpc) manually on brain heart infusion agar (bhi-a) medium. results: the average bacterial colonies of e. faecalis yield that s. zalacca peel extract at 10% had 0,5 x 105 cfu,/ml and 25% was no colony growth. conclusion: based on the series of experiments and analyses conducted, it can be concluded that the snake fruit (salacca zalacca) peel extract exhibits antibacterial effects against enterococcus faecalis. in this study, the concentration of salak peel extract that demonstrated the mic was 10%, while the mbc was found to be 25%.
