B Background: anterior dental malocclusion characteristic is a condition of irregular alignment of the front teeth that not only affects oral function but also influences psychosocial aspects, particularly adolescents’ perception of dental aesthetics. to see the dental aesthetic perception on young people, an index called oasis (oral aesthetic subjective index scale) can be used. aim: this study aimed to determine the relationship between anterior dental malocclusion characteristics and dental aesthetic perception based on oasis index among adolescents at sma 2 cirebon. methods: the study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. a total of 33 students aged 15–17 years were selected using purposive sampling. malocclusion was examined by an orthodontic specialist, while dental aesthetic perception was assessed using the oral aesthetic subjective index scale (oasis) questionnaire. data were analyzed using pearson correlation test. results: crowding was the most common malocclusion (54.5%), followed by protrusion (30.3%) and diastema (15.2%). dental aesthetic perception was almost evenly distributed, with 51.5% categorized as good and 48.5% as poor. pearson correlation analysis revealed r = 0.593 with p = 0.000, indicating a strong and significant positive relationship between anterior dental malocclusion characteristics and dental aesthetic perception. conclusion: anterior malocclusion characteristic is closely associated with adolescents’ dental aesthetic perception, highlighting the importance of early detection and orthodontic management to support psychosocial well-being.
