I Indonesia has a high-level ethnic diversity, which contributes to variations in dental morphology, including shovel shape incisors that serves as an important aspect of forensic identification. this trait is commonly observed in mongoloid populations and used as a distinguishing indicator among ethnic groups. however, research studies on shovel shape incisors in indonesian remain limited. therefore, further research is needed to describe the degree of shoveling in indonesian population. purpose: to describe the distribution of non-metric shovel shape maxillary central incisors among the indonesian young adult population. method: a descriptive observational study used 96 maxillary study model samples. the degree of shovel shape expression of the maxillary central incisors was assessed using arizona state university dental anthropology system (asudas) scoring system. result: based on the asudas scoring system, the results shows that score 0 accounted for 9.4%, score 1 for 21.9%, score 2 for 55.2%, score 3 for 13.5%, score 4 for 1.0%, score 5 for 0%, score 6 for 0%, and score 7 for 0%. conclusion: the results shows that the young adult population at dental hospital of the faculty of dentistry of universitas trisakti is predominantly characterized by an asudas score of 2.
