I Imageability dan legibilitykawasan interaksi kemayoran -sunter, jakarta: analisis konten lima elemen citra kota kevin lynch pada skala mikro
T The kemayoran–sunter intersection zone constitutes a meeting ground between a repurposed former airport precinct and organically grown residential and industrial settlements, traversed by regional-scale movement infrastructure. the intersection of these two divergent spatial logics generates orientation problems for observers, giving rise to the presumption of a weak area image. this study aims to measure and explain the imageability and legibility of the intersectiion zone at a micro scale within an observation radius of approximately 500 metres, employing kevin lynch\\\'s five city-image elements: paths, edges, districts, nodes, and landmarks. the theoretical framework maintains a strict separation between lynch (1960), which is descriptive-perceptual in character, and lynch (1981), which is normative. the meaning component is not measured, as the study involves no human informants; the analysis is therefore confined to the identity component, operationalised as imageability, namely the quality of physical objects in themselves, and the structure component, operationalised as legibility, namely the quality of structural relations among elements. the study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach using visual content analysis of structured field observation. the instrument was developed into 62 operational indicators set out in coding sheets for each sub-variable. the analytical procedure follows a fourteen-step algorithm comprising boundary delineation, determination of observation points, visual recording, indicator description and coding, inter-coder reliability testing using cohen\\\'s kappa coefficient at a threshold of 0.61, indicator weighting, and value aggregation through the simple additive weighting (saw) method. the findings indicate perfect coding reliability at κ = 1.00, such that the results cannot be attributed to observer inconsistency. the weighted indices of all five elements fall within a very narrow range and are uniformly categorised as very low: paths 1.38, edges 1.33, districts 1.40, nodes 1.40, and landmarks 1.33. an imageability index of 1.57 and a legibility index of 1.25 yield an aggregate index of 1.41, likewise very low. the study concludes that the kemayoran–sunter intersectiion zone qualifies as a transitional space without structural identity — a space traversed functionally yet not read as a perceptual whole. the narrow spread of values across elements indicates the absence of any dominant supporting element capable of serving as an orientation anchor, so that efforts to strengthen the area image cannot rest upon a single element. the study recommends interventions prioritising the strengthening of inter-element relations, particularly the clarity of visual boundaries and the articulation of nodal hierarchy, and suggests further research incorporating the meaning component through the perceptions of space users. keywords: city image; imageability; legibility; intersectiion zone; kevin lynch\\\'s five elements; simple additive weighting; micro scale
