L Latar belakang: masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di indonesia masih tergolong tinggi. meskipun mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran gigi memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang lebih baik dibandingkan masyarakat umum, pengetahuan yang dimiliki tidak selalu tercermin dalam perilaku pencegahan kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang optimal. tujuan: untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan persepsi dengan tindakan pencegahan masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di kalangan mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran gigi universitas trisakti berdasarkan penerapan teori health belief model (hbm). metode: penelitian observasional analitik bersifat cross-sectional melibatkan 122 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposive. data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner daring berisi skala likert untuk mengukur perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, dan cues to action; analisis meliputi statistik deskriptif dan korelasi bivariat (spearman). hasil: perceived susceptibility tidak berhubungan signifikan dengan tindakan pencegahan. perceived severity dan perceived barriers menunjukkan hubungan positif namun lemah. perceived benefits menunjukkan hubungan negative lemah. self-efficacy dan cues to action berhubungan positif dengan tindakan pencegahan, dengan self-efficacy sebagai faktor yang memiliki hubungan paling kuat. kesimpulan : tindakan pencegahan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran gigi lebih dipengaruhi oleh keyakinan terhadap kemampuan diri dan dorongan lingkungan dibandingkan persepsi ancaman penyakit.

B Background: oral and dental health problems in indonesia remain relatively high. although students of the faculty of dentistry have a higher level of knowledge compared to the general population, this knowledge is not always reflected in optimal oral and dental health preventive behaviors. objective: to determine the relationship between perceptions and preventive behavior regarding oral and dental health problems among students of the faculty of dentistry, trisakti university, based on the health belief model (hbm). methods: this observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design involved 122 students selected through purposive sampling. data were collected using an online questionnaire with likert scales to measure perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, and cues to action. data analysis included descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation analysis (spearman). results: perceived susceptibility was not significantly associated with preventive actions. perceived severity and perceived barriers showed positive but weak correlations. perceived benefits showed a weak negative correlation. self-efficacy and cues to action were positively associated with preventive actions, with self-efficacy showing the strongest relationship. conclusion: oral and dental health preventive actions among students of the faculty of dentistry are more strongly influenced by confidence in personal ability and environmental cues than by perceptions of disease threat.
