S Soft tissue profile esthetics play a significant role in orthodontics treatment.There was a broad variation in the soft tissue morphology and the skeletalpattern. Large variances were found in the positioning of the lower incisor, inthe skeletal convexity of the face, in the soft tissue convexity of the face, andin the amount of lip protrusion. Cranial and facial patterns have a stronggenetic origin; Divergence of the face is influenced by the patient’s racial andethnic background. To quantify soft tissues profiles, a number of lines andangles connecting soft tissue surface landmarks have been suggested (facialanalysis), for example : Ricketts line, Holdaways line, which have differentstandard norm if used by Mongoloid and Negroid races. For such a patient,extracting the teeth will have effect on lips and good facial esthetics. Asignificant profile change did occur following the extraction of four firstpremolars, and sometimes include plastic surgery. Soft tissues are directlyresponsible both for facial esthetics and the stability of an orthodontictreatment end result.
