S Slum settlements along riverbanks dominate the profile of slum areas in jakarta city and have become the focus of relocation sites in the river normalization program. the settlements in kampung melayu sub-district, east jakarta, are slum areas along the banks of the ciliwung river that will be relocated due to the impact of land acquisition for the ciliwung river normalization. however, many of the residents refuse and still choose to remain living in that place. this phenomenon can be explained through the concept of place attachment. this study aims to identify the place attachment factors of the residents in rw 05, 06, 07, and 08 of kampung melayu sub-district. the place attachment factors investigated include ease of access, affordability, social bonds, a sense of comfort, a sense of security, satisfaction, length of stay, and cultural values. the research method used is an interview survey method with 13 informants selected via purposive sampling and snowball sampling. the analysis technique uses content analysis. the results of the study indicate that all factors build the place attachment of the residents in rw 05, 06, 07, and 08 of kampung melayu.
